Farcycles Community Grant Fund.
How We Fund Applications
How We Assess and Award Grants
Funding Criteria
At Farcycles, we carefully consider all applications that align with our core values and funding criteria. Our Review Committee reviews each request to ensure it meets our charitable aims and makes a positive impact on the cycling community.
Funding Amounts
We welcome applications for financial support of up to £5,000, either to fully or partially fund cycling-related projects.
Who Can Apply
Charities: Eligible organisations must be registered with the Charities Commission, have a clear charitable purpose, and be managed by at least two trustees.
Other Organisations: We can also support non-charitable organisations, provided the project directly aligns with Farcycles’ objectives. In these cases, all funds will be restricted to specific activities or outcomes in line with Charity Commission guidance.
Individuals: If you’re an individual in need of financial support to pursue cycling-related goals and face financial hardship, we’d also love to hear from you. Farcycles requires that applications are made through an organisation responible for providing care or overseeing your wellbeing. We encourage you to speak to them about applying on your behalf. We offer both monetary and non-monetary grants, such as refurbished bikes or training resources
We follow strict guidelines to ensure that any grant awarded is used exclusively for its intended purpose, with no more than minimal incidental personal benefit.
Types of Grants Available
Our grants are awarded based on available funding and the merit of each application. In addition to cash grants, we also offer non-monetary support to help individuals and organisations achieve their cycling goals.
Refurbished Bikes: Through our Farcycles Bike Shop, we provide refurbished bikes to those who may not be able to afford one.
Cycle Training & Consultation: Our experienced volunteers offer training for cyclists of all ages and abilities. We’re also happy to share resources and guidance for organising and delivering cycle training programmes.
Our Priorities
When we receive more high-quality applications than we can fund, the Review Committee use the following criteria to prioritise support:
Projects that create infrastructure or resources to help people of all ages cycle safely and sustainably.
Initiatives promoting cycling for better physical and mental well-being.
Programmes that offer education and training for safer cycling.
Support for those most in need, particularly excluded or vulnerable groups, such as the disabled community.
Projects where a small grant would enable a larger initiative to succeed by closing a funding gap.
We reserve the right to consider additional priorities as needs arise, ensuring we continue to support projects that align with our mission.
Geographic Focus
As a local charity based in Faringdon, Oxfordshire and the surrounding area, our priority is to fund projects that directly benefit our community. While our resources are limited, we are dedicated to improving cycling within our area - typically, this is a five to ten mile radius. However, in exceptional cases where a project outside our community strongly aligns with our objectives, we may consider supporting it.
