Terms and Conditions for Servicing and Repairs.
General Agreement
By leaving your bicycle with us for service, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.
Service Estimates
We will provide a cost estimate for any repairs or services requested. The estimate is based on the information provided and the initial inspection. Final costs may vary if additional issues are discovered during the service. In such cases, we will notify you before proceeding with any extra work.
Authorisation for Repairs
You authorise us to perform the agreed-upon repairs and services as described in the estimate. Any additional work will only be carried out with your approval.
Parts and Labour Costs
Our service charges consist of parts and labour. Parts will be billed at retail prices and labour at our current shop rates. As Farcycles is not VAT registered, our charges do not incur VAT.
Payment Terms
Full payment is required upon completion of the work before the bicycle can be collected. We accept both cash and card payments. If payment is not made within seven days of notification of completion, we reserve the right to charge storage fees.
Turnaround Time
While we aim to complete services within the estimated timeframe, delays may occur due to part availability, unforeseen issues, or seasonal demand. We will communicate any significant delays.
Uncollected Bicycles
Due to limited space in our shop, bicycles not collected within seven days of being notified of completion may incur storage fees of £10 per day. After 20 days, if the bicycle remains uncollected, we reserve the right to sell or dispose of it to recover costs.
Warranty on Services
We guarantee our workmanship for 30 days from the date of service completion. This warranty covers labour only. Parts are covered under their respective manufacturer's warranty, where applicable. Any misuse or further modifications to the bicycle after collection will void this warranty.
Customer Supplied Parts
If you provide your own parts for fitting, we cannot guarantee their performance, compatibility, or quality. Additionally, fitting customer-supplied parts may incur a Fitting Fee, which is applied at the shop’s discretion depending on the complexity or condition of the parts. We will inform you of any such fee prior to commencing work. Please note that we do not offer any warranty on labour associated with fitting non-shop-supplied parts.
Safety and Liability
We will ensure that your bike is safe and roadworthy upon collection, but we do not accept any liability for accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures after the bicycle has left the shop.
Personal Items
Please remove any personal items from your bicycle before leaving it for service. This includes, but is not limited to, lights, locks, bags, baskets, pumps, bike computers, or any other accessories or technology attached to the bike. While we take care with all bicycles, we are not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items or accessories left on the bicycle during the service.
Service Refusal
We reserve the right to refuse service on any bicycle due to unsafe conditions, modifications, or inappropriate customer behaviour.
Unsafe Bikes and Remedial Work
If, during the course of our inspection or service, we identify any safety issues with your bicycle that may put you or others at risk (e.g., faulty brakes, compromised frame integrity, damaged tyres), we reserve the right to undertake any necessary remedial work to ensure the bicycle is safe to ride. Although we will make reasonable efforts to inform you of the required work before proceeding, we may proceed with the repairs without prior approval. These costs will be added to your final bill.
If you decline the required safety repairs, we cannot be held liable for any accidents or injuries that may occur as a result of non-compliance.
Unclean Bicycles
We do not guarantee to clean your bicycle as part of the standard service unless specifically requested, which will incur an additional cleaning fee. However, if your bike is excessively dirty or in a condition that makes it difficult for the mechanic to perform the necessary work, we reserve the right to clean the bike and charge the appropriate cleaning fee, which will be added to your final bill.
Choice of Replacement Parts
Our policy is to replace any parts with either exact matching parts or compatible alternatives as specified by the manufacturer to ensure optimal performance and safety. If you request alternative parts that deviate from our recommended options, we do not take responsibility for their performance or any consequences resulting from their failure. Additionally, we cannot offer a warranty on parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer or that we do not supply ourselves.
Data Protection
Your personal details are collected only for the purposes of communication about your service and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.
